1 Dead, 3 Hurt in Buckman Bridge Crash

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- An Orange Park man is dead and three others are hurt after an early morning crash on the Buckman Bridge.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers say 34-year-old Jhony Nunez-Serrano's car was stopped in the emergency lane on the northbound side of the Buckman Bridge, when an SUV crashed into him.

Thirty-two-year-old John Dame Robinson of Green Cove Springs was driving that SUV. He suffered minor injuries that did not need treatment.

Nunez-Serrano was pronounced dead at the scene. His passengers, Oscar Hernandez-Nunez and 15-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez, were both taken to Shands with minor injuries.

84_year_old_woman_dies_from_injuries_after_nassau_county_wreck

An 84-year-old Amelia Island woman died Monday after she was injured in a car wreck Friday.

Margery H. Freas, was on License Drive in Nassau County about 4 p.m. when she tried to turn left onto Florida 200. Freas drove into the path of traffic, and her car was struck on the driver's side by a vehicle going about 55 mph, according to a Nassau County Sheriff's Office report.


The other driver, who was wearing a seat belt, wasn't injured.


Freas was airlifted to Shands Jacksonville and died three days later. Her passenger and husband, Arthur Freas, was also injured and taken to the same hospital. Both were wearing seat belts.


An obituary by the York (Pa.) Daily Record said the couple had been married for 60 years.

Jacksonville teen dies in one-car accident overnight.

A teen died early this morning in a one-car accident on Philips Highway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Kirsten R. Harper of Jacksonville was traveling south on Southside Boulevard near Philips Highway at 3 a.m.

Harper attempted to turn left on Philips when she lost control of her car, FHP said. The car left the road on the south shoulder and struck a power pole then a sign before coming to rest.

FHP said Harper, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Her passenger, Isabelle D. Cyr, 18, of Jacksonville suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Man dies in crash in St Augustine

A 90-year-old man was killed in a single car accident on State Road 13 near Orangedale on Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Marion T. Payne of St. Augustine was driving a four-door 1999 Saturn south on S.R. 13 about two miles south of Greenbriar Road where the road curves to the left. The Saturn drove off onto the west shoulder and the front bumper struck a culvert causing the vehicle to become airborne. It then headed into a ditch and overturned end over end before coming to a final rest facing north on its left side, the FHP said.

Semi-truck accident halts traffic


Traffic at the Tyler overpass on SR-904 was delayed for about 30 minutes on Jan. 12 when a semi-truck overturned and skidded on its side for before coming to a stop blocking traffic and injuring the driver.
Washington State Trooper Chad Kinder said just before 5 p.m. the truck failed to negotiate the 25 mph bend just south of Interstate 90 that leads to the Tyler overpass. The truck’s trailer slid off the road first, which pulled the rest of the truck onto its side.
“The fog and speed issue is a huge element,” Kinder said of the cause of the accident.

Fatal car accident in St Augustine Florida


Two people died Monday in an early morning wreck on State Road 13 in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

"We're waiting on the medical examiner to do a positive identification," FHP spokesman Lt. William Leeper said.

Three-car wreck kills Baker County man

A Baker County man was killed Friday in a three-car accident near Sanderson, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.The wreck that killed Howard Baird, 80, of Sanderson closed County Road 229 at County Road 124 for several hours while investigators examined wreckage, according to a Highway Patrol report.

Jacksonville man killed in motorcycle accident

A Jacksonville man was killed Friday evening when a van struck his Harley-Davidson.
David G, Jenkins, 56, was traveling eastbound on Florida 134 near Florida at 6 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported, when he attempted to make a left turn onto Florida 21.
